English Language, Drama and Debating

PL Debate Club offers students, who are looking for intellectual and oratorical challenges, a plethora of opportunities to engage in riveting discussions that will stretch their imagination, challenge their opinions and broaden their perspectives on critical issues such as ethics and geopolitics.  We take part in numerous debate competitions including Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championships (Division I), Raffles Debate Academy and Methodist Schools’ Debate Cup. Through such platforms, our debaters get to meet like-minded people who are passionate about examining the rigour of arguments and courageous in presenting their viewpoints.

This year (2020), due to the safe-distancing measures taken to combat COVID-19, the Debate Club conducted training sessions via the online platform, Zoom. This is to ensure that our students can continue to hone their debating skills and prepare themselves for the Singapore Secondary Schools’ Debating Competition 2021 which commences in February. (Further details regarding this competition will be posted on this webpage in January 2021.)

An outstanding club producing women with fine debating skills and passion for verbal discourse and lifelong learning.

To nurture every club member into a skillful debater, who lives in favour with God and man.
