Our Christian Ministry

The Christian Ministry aligns itself with the school by teaching and reiterating good moral values based on the Bible, the Word of God, during weekly Chapel sessions and daily morning devotions.  

Mission:
To proclaim the God of the Bible and to instill Christ-likeness as the way of life, as we challenge the disciples (i.e. believers) and motivating every person to live out the abundant life that God has planned for us.

Vision:
A school with staff and students who live their lives as fearfully and wonderfully created individuals made in the image of God, exhibiting positive character traits.

Verse:
Proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the way he (she) should go, and when he (she) is old, he (she) will not turn from it.”

Proclaiming God, Learning Christ-likeness, Challenging the disciples, Motivating every person.

The Methodist Church in Singapore, through Paya Lebar Methodist Church provides chaplaincy and spiritual direction for the school, through support from the PLMC Pastoral Team and the provision of 1 Christian Ministry Staff, Mrs Grace Foo, who is based in the school premise.

Support from the Christian ministry for the PL Staff and Students are carried out through:

• Daily Morning Devotions and Prayers before the start of the school day

• Weekly Chapel Sessions

• Class Cell Time (every Thursday from 2.10 pm – 2.30 pm)

• Class Esthers’ training and support for Class Esthers

• Support for the Girls’ Brigade (GB) 4^th Coy

• Chapel Band Rehearsal (for students) on Tues morning (7.30 – 8.15am)

• REW activities during Good-Friday Week

• Parents Prayer Meet (Monday, 7.30 am)

• Staff Prayer Meet (Thursday, 7.00am)

• Masterpiece Room Drop-ins during breaks and lunchtimes for students to play, interact and fellowship

• Baccalaureate Service for Graduating students (last Chapel Service for Sec 4/5)

• Prayer Walks in and around the school grounds in December in preparation for the start of the new academic year in January

• Staff Dedication for both PLMGS(Pri) & PLMGS(Sec) staff in December to start the new year

• Christmas Service on the last Wednesday Chapel in Term 4

• Church blessings, support and presence at various school events.

It was an inspiring morning as Dr Tan Lai Yong, a renowned Singaporean medical doctor, educator, and missionary, shared God’s Word at Chapel today. Recognized for his work with marginalized communities and his dedication to teaching about ‘compassion’, Dr Tan shared with the PL-Lites about - The Value of a Friend “Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.”

Chapel @ PL: What a privilege for our PL-Lites and staff to hear from Ms Lam Bao Yan and Mr Rudy Taslim, about their work among the war refugees in Ukraine. It’s about showing up, meeting needs and extending the love of Jesus!
