World Robot Games 2016 Singapore

In June, several teams of students from PLMGS (Sec) did the school proud by winning Gold and Silver awards in the World Robot Games Singapore 2016, in the "Search and Rescue Robot" Secondary School Category, as well as the Bronze award in the "Line Tracing Robot" Secondary School Category. PLMGS (Sec) was invited to represent Singapore in the World Robot Games International 2016 in Bandung, Indonesia, from 25 to 28 August 2016, against teams from Indonesia, China, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Myanmar.

2015 - PL Sec attains the Blaze Award in the National Arts Education Award

The National Arts Education Award (NAEA) is a national arts award for Ministry of Education (MOE) schools. Conferred by NAC, the award affirms schools that develop holistic arts education for their students. The biennial award affirms schools that develop holistic arts education for their students, provides all schools with a framework to guide the development of good arts education practices and programmes

In 2012, PL Sec attained the Blaze Award, the top category of NAEA. The Blaze Award is conferred to schools which have built a vibrant arts culture and advocate the arts. The Blaze awardees are also recognised for championing the arts and contributing to the community.

In 2016, PL Sec becomes one of the few second time recipient of NAEA Blaze Awardees. This is a testimony of PL's effort in nurturing the PL-Lites into gracious women of fine character.

The National Arts Education Award (NAEA) has been discontinued in 2017 in line with MOE’s shift away from awards for schools. PLMGS will continue to provide a rich Arts experience for all PL-Lites.

2015 - Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award

The Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award seeks to stimulate creativity among the young generation and to promote scientific and technological research in Singapore. By organising the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award as an annual event, the Award Committee aims to achieve the following goals:

• to encourage our youths to use their knowledge and skills imaginatively and with daring innovation;

• to stimulate creativity among our youths and promote scientific and technological research in the country;

• to contribute to our talent pool;

• to inspire our youths to constantly think of new and creative ways of solving problems;

• to inculcate in our youths an innovative approach to their studies and life.

Four teams from Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Sec) were selected for the first round interview and two teams made it to the second round interview. We are proud to announce that two of our teams attained the Commendation Awards student category and Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Sec) attained 2nd place under the School Award category.

The SEC-StarHub School Green Awards (SGA) is a self-audited voluntary environmental programme which serves as a platform for students to develop and showcase their environmental efforts, through customised activities which will help them gain better understanding of the environment.

2017 - Sembcorp Go Green Fund 2017 - Secondary School / Tertiary Category

PL(Sec) is one of the eight wining schools to be awarded the Consolation Prize (Green award)

2015 - North East District Environment Award (Schools category)

In October 2015, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary) was awarded the Platinum Award (2nd prize) for the North East District Environment Award (Schools category).

2015 - Keep Singapore Clean Movement - 'Bright Spot' within school

In June 2015, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School (Secondary) was selected as a 'Bright Spot' within school as part of the Keep Singapore Clean Movement. 'Bright Spots' are shared spaces adopted by its stakeholders who take ownership of its cleanliness, keep them clean and help to educate and encourage good cleanliness practices.

Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Award

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has worked closely with the Ministry of Education (MOE) to develop the new BCA Green Mark for Existing Schools, which places stronger emphasis on raising the awareness amongst students and educating our future generation on the importance of environmental sustainability and conservation.

School Green Audit Award

The SEC-StarHub School Green Awards (SGA) is a self-audited voluntary environmental programme which serves as a platform for students to develop and showcase their environmental efforts, through customised activities which will help them gain better understanding of the environment.

MOE Masterplans of Awards

As an autonomous school since 2002, PLMGS(Sec) has attained the School Distinction Award (2007), Best Practice Awards (BPA) for Staff Well-Being (2003, 2007 and 2012), Teaching and Learning (2007 and 2012) and Student All Round Development (2012) and the Outstanding Development Award (Character Development) (2009 and 2012).  In the 2012 external validation exercise, the school was accorded the School Excellence Award, the pinnacle award in the MOE’s Masterplan of Awards. The school has also achieved two SPRING Singapore Business Excellence awards, namely, the People Developer Award and the Singapore Quality Class.

MOE has removed the Masterplan of Awards (MOA) from 2014. In view of this, the School Excellence Award, Sustained Achievement Award and the Academic Value-Added awards were removed.

Sustained Achievement Awards

A Sustained Achievement Award is given to a school who consistently performs well.
From 2014, MOE has stopped awarding Sustained Achievement Award and the Academic Value-Added awards to schools.
